Vitex agnus castus L. is a deciduous shrub or tree that is native to Mediterranean Europe and Central Asia that reaches 1-6 m tall.
It has aromatic, compound, palmate, grayish-green leaves with 5-7 lance-shaped leaflets (each leaflet reaches up to 15 cm) and tiny, fragrant, lavender to pale violet flowers.
The fruits are globose, reddish-black slightly longer than calyx.
