Wild apple

The wild apple (Malus sylvestris) is a small deciduous tree often appearing more as a bush. It can live 80–100 years and grow up to 10 m tall with trunk diameters of 23–45 cm.

The leaves of Crap apple tree are ovate, dark green, glossy with asymmetrical leaf base. The leaf margins are curved and serrated.

The stone fruit (apple) are very small, measuring between 2 and 4 centimeters in diameter. The fruits are not perfectly round and may have a slightly ribbed appearance.

They have long stems and mature from a yellow-green to red. Their creamy white flesh has a tart, acidic flavor.
