Papaver rhoeas

Red poppy

It is annual herbaceous plant, covered in trichome and lush herb. The stem has 30-60 cm long, straight and slightly branch.

The leaves are placed in the lower part of the stem, in an interchangeable form. They lanceolate formation, with deep clefts with elongated tip, serrated and covered in trichome.

The flowers that emerge on top of the long bushes are large, single and in red colour. The flower is characterized by two fuzzy sepals. Sepals are long and are found as concave shape. In the formation period, from the inflorescence to the opening, the sepals stay closed and enclose the entire flower with its organs.

With subsequent development, the two sepals separate from each other and highlight the red flower. When the flower opens, the sepals cease to function and fall off.
